So I sewed something fun

I have been meaning to get back to sewing, I love sewing!  I love that you take some fabric cut it up, pin it together and put it into a machine with some matching thread and poof you have something handmade and it actually looks like something.  Very cool.  I have a beautiful machine I bought many years ago when I worked at a sewing store.  My boss got me a great deal on a Viking.  I think I have owned it for about 17 years now, best money ever spent.

I love this machine, over 17 years and only needed one minor repair.
Sew last week I set up my machine and sewed the following apron.

And added a fun decorative stitch.  I am so pleased it turned out decent looking.  Why?  Because I am rather rusty in the clothing department.  I sew pajama bottoms every other Christmas or so and one year on the larger sizes I mis-matched the pieces and ended up with one leg that was both the front panels sewn together and one leg that was both the back panels sewn together.  I did not realize this until it was too late, way too late.  My older two children were gracious and wore them anyway, man how I love those guys (I think they were around 11 and 12), I am not so sure at 18 and 20 they would do that again but who knows they might surprise me.  Last years were sewn correctly so that was good but they just never fit as good as the ones from the store and they still wear them.

Anyway I loved playing with the stitches and have realized that this is probably as close to a piece of clothing I should get as far as sewing goes.  I think I will work on bags, purses and other crafty type sewing and leave the clothing to the professionals for now =).
