So on to visiting wineries days 4. One last post to share the remainder of this fantastic trip. We started off day 4 by stopping at a cute church bazaar and found some great little finds to add to our already very full car. Plus, a yummy plate of Banana Nut Bread. Then we headed off to find coffee and find coffee we did. Not sure how we traveled before smartphones or at least found random things along the way. Like this fantastic coffee shop we found, Trager Brothers Coffee. Personable folks and FANTASTIC coffee! That is on our always go back, list if we are nearby.
Then on to Stop 1 – Blue Toad Hard Cider
We had such a good time here. The cider was delicious and the food was fantastic! Note to self, next time purchase double the amount. We ran out of our haul pretty fast.
Stop 2 – Mountain Cove Vineyard
Very quiet spot, on a hill. We really enjoyed the visit. The pourer was also the grounds keeper and had hopped off the mower to come and pour our tasting. She was personable and it was really important to her to hear what we thought. In reading up on this spot more recently, I noted they offer both vegan wines and kosher wines. Kind of cool.
Stop 3 – Lovingston Winery
This was another one we want to return to. Loved the wine, cute atmosphere and the tasting was right where the action of making the wine happens. Love that. Great experience.
Stop 4 – Rebec Vineyards
Well, when a winery visit starts off with being greeted by dogs, it’s a good one. Love this place and the wines. Fun experience! Have been looking forward to eventually making out to one of the VIRGINIA GARLIC & WINE FESTIVAL. Unfortunately, this year is a no go, but planning on 2021 for sure.
Since we only hit one winery on day 5 I’m including here with visiting wineries days 4. On our way home, we hit one last winery. The day was a little gloomy and cloudy but wine always brightens the day. We stopped off at Loving Cup Vineyard & Winery. I had this on my list because they are noted as Virginia’s only certified-organic vineyard and winery. It was calling my name. I can’t wait to go back here as well.
A sweet quite spot, with yet again some great wines. It was a perfect end to this amazing trip. From the hotel and motel to the spots we dined at to the drive to the little farmers market and stopping at these amazing wineries, it was beyond the best time.
